WHat IS CERT?



The CERT concept was developed and implemented by the Los Angles City Fire Department in 1985. The Whittier Narrows earthquake in 1987 underscored the area-wide threat of a major disaster in California. Further, it confirmed the need for training civilians to meet their immediate needs.


CERT became a national program in 1993. There are now CERT programs in all 50 states, including many tribal nations and U.S. territories. Each is unique to its community and all are essential to building a Culture of Preparedness to the United States. There are over 2,700 local CERT programs nationwide and more than 600,000 people have trained since CERT became a national program.















wHAT IS boch cert?



BOCH-CERT volunteers are a team of 50+/- local residents a mix of retired and full/part-time working professionals. They are trained under FEMA guidelines and are certified and capable of supporting our communities during emergency and non-emergency situations including:

*First Responder Support & Rehab *Light Search and Rescue
*Point of Distribution
*Shelter Operations
*First Aid & Triage*Public Safety

BOCH-CERT members train regularly, attend monthly meetings and readily standby to support local first responders.



















wHY jOIN boch CERT?


BOCH-CERT training prepares you to help yourself and help others in the event of a disaster. Although first responder personnel are always the best trained and equiped to handle emergencies, they will not be able to help everyone immediately in the event of a large catastrophic event. You can make a difference by using your CERT training to save lives and property.


BOCH-CERT volunteers participate regularly in events to support their local communities in non-emergency situations. These activities contribute to team preparedness and public awareness. They are valuable experiences benefitting the BOCH-CERT communities.
